Evaluation

At the beginning of this brief my ideas for my final idea were very different to what they are now, I began with the idea of taking a picture of an animal, and also taking a picture of its habitat and them put the two together with the surroundings of the animal, Photoshopped into the inside of the animal. But unfortunately this idea had already been done, and I couldn’t think of a reason behind why I was doing it.

Another idea arouse at the beginning with which was to do a similar ideas to the animals but doing a human and their surroundings instead, but this idea I couldn’t think of an out come for so that idea was scrapped, so then had another brainstorm of ideas.

I then got on tot the idea of making a person that is being sucked into an electrical device, the reasoning behind this ideas was that in this day and age people are becoming sucking in by their phones, laptops and other devices and not realise what us in front of them or around them.

This meant that their phone is their surroundings everything else around them which is their surroundings are irrelevant. All of these ideas were good but their was no significant reasoning behind why I was doing what I was doing, the word at the beginning that I chose was natural versus man-made, but as the project progressed the word changed.

I became completely stumped and had no ideas of what to do for my final piece, but after talking to the lecturers, they helped me come up with the idea of using my shop, which is my families own business and making it look as though it was a day in the life of me at the shop, and show the happenings of an average day at the shop.

After receiving all of my feedback about what to do, came up with the idea to create a scene at the shop and have the photos of the shop places in Polaroid’s and them placed on a pin board, as well as that I created a bit with the Polaroid’s that were too small from my final piece and make a contact sheet with the photos and make them bigger so that they are easier for people to view. I also got some Polaroid’s that I could place my own photos that I have taken from the shop, there was five so I chose five of my favourite and best photos and placed those in their.

If I were to do this project again I would choose my final idea at the beginning of the brief, so that I would be able to make it look better and more professional. I would get my photos in the Polaroid’s that I printed; I would get them printed professionally and I would get the Polaroid’s bigger so that they would look better. I haven’t rushed my work but I would like to have taken more time on it.

The message of my work that I wanted to portray in my project is that there is more to a coffee shop that what you can see, and hear. My final piece shows the actions that happen in an average day at the shop and place them in its surroundings, which is the shop. I am happy with my final piece as it looks very crisp and clean, and the Polaroid’s add something extra to the final piece.

If I were to change anything I would add the shadows to the images that were added as extra in the final picture. As well as that I would get the photos used printed properly. As well as tat I would take more time in the selection of my photographs used and the settings used in the camera to get the best colours and composition possible.
