Artist Research: Walter Mason

Walter Mason is a German artist that uses natural sources like stones, flowers, water and other natural materials to create is work, Walter is a temporary artist as his work will only be shown through photography as his work will be blown away or destroyed, by the wind and other natural causes. What I like about his work is that it can only be viewed through photography because it is only temporary, which makes it all the more special and interesting. Also I like how his work is well thought out presented for the picture to be taken.

The only dislike about this artists work is that there is no reasoning behind why he has done it, although it is very beautiful, I am interested as to what the meaning behind it is. The composition of all of his work is very well planned and set out in just the right way, his colour scheme is amazing as it all depends on the colours of the leaves or the other natural materials that he uses for his work, the some of the pieces of his work, the leaves are warm and autumnal colours.

To me his work represents that nature is very fragile, delicate and elegant, whilst being practical at the same time, his work shows that leaves, flowers and other natural forms can become a pieces of art, instead of just being there and no one noticing them properly.

The form of his work is that the leaves, stones, flowers, water and other part of nature, can be shown in a different way to what they usually are everyday, and turn them into a piece of art, and allow them to express their colours. The function of the materials that he uses have different function to what they are being used for in his work, normally the

water on the leaves run off, whereas the leaves in his work hold the water droplets in place, and keep them there.
